Closing the Knowledge Gap

by The 100 Companies

Each day until 2029, about 10,000 baby boomers will reach retirement age. For engineering-driven companies like Phillips 66, that means closing the knowledge gap through accelerated training.

Chemical engineer Scott McArthur is one of 54 technical experts for the company’s Professional Refinery Engineering Program, or PREP. After 22 years at Los Angeles-area refineries, he’s now overseeing the company’s national network and mentoring dozens of new engineers annually.

“I enjoy it – it’s like fresh air coming in the door,” McArthur  said. “We’re accelerating their process, safety and technical acumen, while providing networking and mentoring that will be invaluable in their careers.”
