Keep cool and thank an engineer

by The 100 Companies

Summer is here and boy are we grateful — for overdue vacations, time with family and friends and those long, hot summer nights.

Those nights and days are made more comfortable because of one life-changing engineering innovation. In 1902, Willis Haviland Carrier invented the first modern air conditioning unit.

AC’s gotten even “cooler” since then, thanks to technology.

American Society of Mechanical Engineering’s Executive Director/CEO Tom Costabile says smart home tech is keeping us cooler with more efficiency and less effort. “Basic artificial intelligence is being built into home thermostats which can optimize home HVAC use based on user behavior.”
