Strength in numbers: NSBE works to improve representation in engineering

by The 100 Companies

When the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) leadership met in 2014 to develop its 10-year strategic plan, a consensus formed around a bold initiative to end the underrepresentation of Black people in engineering.

Thus was born NSBE’s “10K Goal” to partner with the nation’s colleges and universities to increase the number of African American bachelor’s degree recipients in engineering from 3,501 in 2014 to 10,000 annually by 2025.

In 2018, the nation passed the halfway point of 5,000 engineering baccalaureates awarded to Black candidates, but much work remains. Join our campaign to increase U.S. competitiveness by empowering Black engineers!
